It is with great delight that we are able to confirm the running of The Wedge Classic in 2009!

After many months of uncertainty and an ever increasing level of concern among riders that the event wouldn't go ahead, The Wedge Classic is confirmed from the 5th to the 10th of July 2009.

The event will draw the top bodyboarders from around the country to the sleepy coastal town of Plettenberg bay for an all out assault on the jewel in the crown, The Wedge.

With an extensive history and arguably the favourite event on tour, this year promises to deliver on all fronts, from action in the water to late evening activities.

The contest is the longest standing event in South Africa and always delivers on the fun factor, where competitors jostle for valuable points out in the water to take the coveted 'King of the Wedge' title.

Will last year's King, Vaughn Harris, be on hand to defend his crown and will local ripper, Ryan Jucker, make it three in a row in the events men's division?

The Wedge Classic is always full of surprises and this year should be no different.
