Mafoos Lombard: the future of South African bodyboarding

Mafoos Lombard has taken out the prestigious Digicape Tand Invitational 2017, in South Africa.

The event has once again gathered 16 of the best bodyboarders and slab specialists in South Africa, including former world champion Andre Botha.

With waves in the four-to-six-foot range, and perfect barrels waiting to be ridden, the athletes got in the water and wasted no time throwing airs and getting covered by the cold water lips.

In a highly contested final, Matthew "Mafoos" Lombard beat Mark McCarthy, Andre Botha, and Henk Esterhuysen and raised the acclaimed trophy.

"Words don't describe how stoked I am for taking out the 2017 Digicape Tand Invitational. Huge thanks to the organizers and everyone that was there today," expressed Lombard.
