Alex Uranga conquered the 2017 Santa Cruz European BB Pro, in Portugal.

The Spanish bodyboarder claimed the first event on the 2017 European Tour of Bodyboard (ETB) after defeating the Portuguese rider, Ricardo Rosmaninho, an athlete from Póvoa de Varzim.

It was the first time Santa Cruz held an ETB event. The competition had a prize-money of 7,000 euros.

"I'm very happy. Like Brahim, I came from the South American world tour leg, I'm tired, but I want to congratulate all the athletes. They have been at their best," said Uranga.

"Now, we head to Aveiro. I hope to find good waves and get the same result. Congratulations to the organization. I hope the race will continue for many years and that we will meet here."

In the Pro Junior division, Rodrigo Lopes defeated Joel Rodrigues and took home the title.
