Matt Lackey: deep in the cavern somewhere in the Phillipines

It's rare to find an action sports video that starts with a spoken lecture that actually makes sense in the days we're living.

"How would you enjoy living your life? [...] Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way."

The words are from Alan Watts (1913-1973), a British philosopher who dedicated his life to studying Eastern spirituality and culture and sharing it with Western audiences.

In "Nomad Fun Park," you'll witness two accomplished Australian bodyboarders - Matt Lackey and Lachlan Cramsie - doing what they love. In the end, it's not about getting rich - it is about living life to the fullest.

The duo embarks on a surf trip to the Philippines to explore the Southeast Asian country's hidden secrets. The goal was to find and surf Cloud 9, but Lackey and Cramsie got more.

"When I saw the charts light up, I just booked the tickets, spoke to Jennings and he suggested Cramsey come along. I hadn't really surfed with him, but I knew he would love this wave," explains Lackey.

They surfed the famous right-hander to exhaustion. Lackey in drop-knee mode, getting deep in the barrel; Cramsie in prone style, throwing spray and landing airs. Until it was time to move.

"A few years ago when I was in the Philippines I heard of a left slab in an island to the south. It was hard to walk away from pumping Cloud 9, but when we got there, it was just empty barrels and spinning into the channel with no one around."

"Nomad Fun Park" was filmed and edited by Michael Jennings. The soundtrack features Caddywhompas, Away From Now, Pope, Tempest Rising, and High Time.
