2009 Peniche Sumol Pro

The last event on the E5'09 (IBA European leg) has been run and won by Brazilians Neymara Carvalho and Lucas Nogueira.

The surf was dropping and the event was finished on the Saturday to take advantage of the decreasing swell.

Neymara defeated fellow Brazilian Isabella Sousa and Lucas best Dave Winchester (Australia).

The IBA World Tour now packs up and heads towards Buzios in Brazil for a WWT & WMT event.

The Women and DK riders will go from there to Venezuela for the Bodyboard Pro festival.

Both the Mens and Women's world titles will be decided at Confital in the Canary Islands at the final Grand Slam for 2009.

Five or six riders are in contention for the crown in the Men and there are three or four potential outcomes in the Women so this year is shaping up as a fairy-tail finish for the IBA so make sure that you stay tuned to all the results.

Brazilian Eder Luciano won the Expression session and collected the cash as the IBA trailed a new 4 man priority system. More soon.

The IBA half yearly meeting was held in Peniche and there are some big plans for 2009.

Surfing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will take place in the ocean, not in a wave pool. The waiting period runs from July 24 to August 9.
