IBA Arica Chile

The second day of competition was held today with 5 to 6 feet of waves. It was the smallest day since the opening of the window but, one of the most perfect.

Standouts where the Australians Mitch Rawllins and Ryan Hardy who both shared the highest scores of the day. 

The Brazilian Francirley Ferreira had the 3rd overall score and along with Erisberto Abrantes and Abner Scoppetta are in the main event.

Airam Cabrera from Canary Island, Emiliano Tabaré from Argentina, Darren Halse from England and Dave Winchester from Australia also guaranteed their spot in the next round

The Chileans are doing  well with 4 representatives in the main round. The rider from Arica Jorge Lecaros has the local support and will take on  Ben Player, Ryan Hardy and Guilherme Tâmega in the 7th heat of the main event.

The competition might be on hold tomorrow (Monday) due to a strong swell that will get to Chile on Wednesday.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
