US Open of Bodyboarding: watch out, it's the pier

Today we opened The US Open of Bodyboarding with the Expression Session, featuring the Top Pro Riders and Top Amateur Riders from around the globe.

The Men’s Pro division started first thing this morning for an expression session, along with Drop Knee and Open Amateurs. Guilherme Tamega was a standout in the Expression Session, with countless combos and maneuvers in wave selection. Chris “Won Ton” Taloa showed us how to stand up on a boogie.

Dave Hubbard was killing it in Drop Knee, connecting waves from all the way on the outside to the inside on shore. For the Amateurs, Rocket was a superstar out in the water, and was even showing up the pros!

The Women’s Pro followed, with Natasha Overin shooting down the line. Claudia Ferrari, Claudia Castello and Keila Grodzen were having a fun time out at the Huntington lineup.

Manny Vargas and Steve “Action” Jackson were on MC duty, keeping the crowd and competitors informed on event status for the weekend, and plugging the sponsors along the way.

On June 5th at 7pm there will be a Meet and Greet with the top pro riders, including world champion Jeff Hubbard. The USBA is excited to bring the US Open to the next level with the help of Sport Chalet and its annual sponsors to the US Open.
