US bodyboarding: prepare to storm New Jersey

The United States Bodyboarding Association (USBA) has announced the launch of the New Jersey Regional Tour 2012, a series of three spring competitions which will seed its top ranked riders into the US Open of Bodyboarding, in Huntington Beach, California.

The NJ Regional Tour 2012 is, also, planning on organizing free bodyboarding clinics and special events for later in summer 2012. For the inaugural season, there will be no pro divisions. The focus will be on developing the amateur talents in New Jersey.

In accordance with the USBA, Amateur divisions will be as follows: 12 & Under, 13-17, Open, Women and Drop Knee. Steve Jackson will be the New Jersey Regional Tour director and pro Head Judge Tom Brandli will oversee the head judging duties.

“I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to help provide a competitive venue for New Jersey’s very talented bodyboarding community, as well as having the chance to help cultivate the sport here in my home state with free clinics and special events”, said Jackson.

The NJ Regional Tour will follow all rules and regulations as mandated by the IBA rule book. The locations and dates are to be confirmed.
