Sacha Specker: he photographed himself

South African bodyboarder Sacha Specker has captured his maiden world title in Playa Parguita, Isla de Margarita, Venezuela.

Sacha Specker conquered the 2012 IBA Drop Knee World Tour title during the Bodyboard Pro Festival held in the South America country.

The 29-year old rider was in a five-way tussle with several of the planet's top exponents, including Dave Hubbard (Hawaii) Ardiel Jimenez (Canary Islands) Pancho Galdos and Cesar Bauer (Peru).

Fortunately for him, the cards fell perfectly in order, as the contenders fell one by one leaving one man standing.

"I am over the moon", said an euphoric Specker. "It's a moment that everyone dreams of as a grom so it feels surreal", he added.

Sacha Specker hails from Cape Town, in South Africa. He started bodyboarding in 1994 and quickly rose to the top of his class with excellent prone and drop knee skills.

August 3, 2016, was a day that surfers should never forget. For the first time in its long history, surfing was confirmed in the Olympic Games.
