Yoan Florantin: rookie power

Yoan Florantin has been considered the IBA Rookie of the Year 2012 for his outstanding performance on the Global Qualifying Series and Grand Slam Series events.

Florantin is a bodyboarder from Reunion Island that has been confirming his status as one of the best young riders of his generation.

In the 2012 season, Yoan Florantin won the Zicatela Trials, in Mexico, and kept his positive career in the world stages, with good results in almost all events.

The rider will be part of the 2013 IBA Grand Slam Series and may deliver a few surprises, among the world's best bodyboarders.

Jared Houston (2010) and Tom Rigby (2012) have already won the IBA Rookie of the Year for their season results, age and consistent performance.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
