Boogie Fest: bodyboarding party

The Boogie Fest has been announced to Newcastle, in Australia.

The bodyboarding event is held by IBA Australasia and will showcase Groms (Under-15 and Under-17), Women and Drop-Knee competitions.

"We are always doing stuff for the Men's Pro division and we decided it would be nice to put something on for the divisions that don't get as much love", says Terry McKenna, IBA Australasia manager.

"And this retro-flavoured event is also a great chance to wind the clock back for the kids and show them where the sport came from with some cool displays of old boards and paraphernalia from yesteryear", he adds.

The Boogie Fest will be surfed in two days, between March 23rd-24th. Both the Women and Drop-Knee divisions will be rated on the IBAA Rebel Pro Tour, with $1000 prize money up for grabs, in both catagories.

The weekend at Newcastle Beach will showcase surf art and celebrate the rich history of the sport with a parade of original boards and memorabilia.
