Lucas Nogueira: inverted to victory

The GoPro Itacoatiara Pro 2013 has kicked off, in Brazil. Nine trialists have secured a place in the main event.

Sacha Specker, from South Africa, is fit to compete as he sealed a top combined score of 16.50 points. Sacha showed a superior performance through a great barrel and expressive maneuvers.

"I was able to surf very well and felt relaxed. I was having fun out there. I got good waves in the beginning and that gave me confidence for the rest of the heat", explains Specker.

Eder Luciano also had a excellent performance and won his debut heat. "My heat was great. I found two good waves at the start and it gave me security to follow the race. My focus is to get a great result here in Brazil to rise in the rankings".

Guilherme Tamega, also from Brazil, surfed very confidently and tried to improve his 2013 result in Itacoatiara. He is through to Round 3.

"I always go into every competition to win and here is not different, even competing at home with the warmth of the crowd. I always try to bring that energy to my advantage and I really want to have a great result in this competition. Being at home is something unique", expresses Tamega.

Lucas Nogueira has taken out the Itacoatiara Pro 2013 Trials. "Winning is always very good. Winning is an extra motivation and it gets me closer to my main goal this year, to get back into the top 24 in 2014".
