Pipeline: will the IBA World Tour return to its birth?

Alex Leon has quit the International Bodyboarding Association (IBA).

The IBA World Tour manager is no longer working at the International Bodyboarding Association. Alex Leon has decided to leave the important position, two weeks before the Fronton Challenge.

The Spanish event that will decide the 2013 IBA World Tour champion is in the center of the organizational tsunami.

According to the Portuguese bodyboarding news website Bodyboard.pt, "it seems that this resignation has to do with the financial degradation of the organization and what triggered this decision was the Fronton Pro".

In the end of 2012, the iconic Terry McKenna left the IBA with strong words against low prize purses and mediocre surf stops.

Leon, a former professional bodyboarder with a 10-year career, took on full responsibilities for the 2013 World Tour, in December 2013.

The 2013 IBA World Tour will not be a season to remember. A very difficult start at Pipeline, low-quality webcasts, inexistent media relations and only five Grand Slam Series stages.
