Alex Uranga: not afraid of heights

The waves weren't perfect but the best bodyboarders in the world can make it happen. The 2011 Nissan Reunion Bodyboard Pro has entered the final decisions, as the quarter-finals reach the sands of Les Archers, in Saint Pierre.

The crowd is enjoying mixed feelings. After losing a local bodyboarder in the last weeks - Mathieu Schiller - the enthusiastic Reunion Island crew hasn't stop the support to all riders.

Despite being severely hurt in the sharp coral reef, Alex Uranga showed full power skills to defeat Guilherme Tamega, the experience Brazilian, and send him home earlier. Uranga comes from the Trials and will definitely fight for a wave in the final.

The Spanish bodyboarder is the man of the moment and is not afraid of climbing up in the leaderboard. Alex will meet Michael Novy, the Australian who is surfing better than ever.

In the remaining quarter-final heats you should expect total show off. Amaury Laverhne will try to beat Jake Stone, Ben Player is up against Pierre Louis Costes and Dave Winchester will measure forces with Yoan Florintin.

The 2011 Nissan Reunion Bodyboard Pro plays a crucial role in defining the next world bodyboarding champion.
