Andre Botha: experience pays off | Photo: Kevin Sawyer

Andre Botha has claimed the prestigious Cave Rock Invitational 2014, at the Bluff, in Durban, South Africa.

Waves were not huge, but they were clearly interesting in the four-to-five foot range. Mike Ostler, the event organizer, raised the green light, and everyone went for broke.

Former world bodyboarding champion Andre Botha was definitely fired up and showed from the very beginning that he wanted to win the event.

The final saw the best bodyboarders in South Africa exchanging barrels, airs and backflips. If Mark McCarthy had exited two caverns, he would've taken the trophy.

Tristan Roberts, the country's young hope, almost had it, but Botha was unstoppable and triumphed at the Cave Rock Invitational 2014. John Venter won the expression session.
