Ben Veitch: small is beautiful

Ben Veitch has won the opening round of the 2014 Western Australia Bodyboard Titles, at Yallingup.

Waves were scarce, and the event was forced to go mobile in a true "wild west" search for the best waves on offer. Two spots were surfed - a reef and a beach break.

Veitch, from Margaret River, confirmed he's still a force to be reckoned with, defeating Western Australia up and comers George Humphreys and Lewy Finnegan in the Open Men's final.

Despite the small waves, Veitch used his 6-foot plus build to post a solid 13.50 combined total. A last minute ARS wasn't enough for George Humphreys to snatch victory from Veitch.

"I really love competing against mates and hanging out at theses events. I haven't won the Open's in years thanks the Lewy and George so I'm going to savour this victory," underlines Ben Veitch.

In the Drop-Knee division, local legend Joe Jordanoff made a triumphant return to the 2014 Western Australia Bodyboard Titles, after a recent hiatus.

"I've just recently moved home from some time over East and I love surfing the waves around this area. I'm keen to do all the events and maybe have a crack at Nationals again," added Jordanoff.
