Autumn is coming to Portugal and alongside big waves. The famous Sumol Nazaré Special Edition 2011 will be played in the waters of Praia do Norte, in Nazaré, from October 12th till November 1st.

"This is already a mark in the country sports calendar and, merit to its organization, has already conquered a place among the big events of waves sports in Portugal", says Jorge Barroso, Mayor of Nazaré.

"The event is the starting point for the Praia do Norte projection as a perfect spot for these sports", he adds.

The Portuguese beach is recognized for its perfect and big waves. The fifth edition of the Sumol Nazaré Special Edition will maintain the origin concept by offering all competitors excellent wave conditions, during the established waiting period.

The contest is held in the Nazaré Canyon, a rare geomorphologic accident, the biggest in Europe and one of the largest in the world, consisting in a flaw on the continental plaque about 170 km long and 5 km of depth.

Settled front to Praia do Norte, it leads the Atlantic waves to the beach, almost without obstacles.
