Confital Pro: what a great spot

The 2010 Confital Pro has been confirmed for the week December 1st – 8th. This year the event will determine the Top 24 riders that will be contesting the 2011 GSS – Grand Slam Series that will feature the best riders in the world at the best locations.

“This is the equivalent of the WCT for surfers”, says IBA Tour manager Terry McKenna. “It’s been a long time in the making and this will take bodyboarding to the next level. New venues, a new format and a completely fresh presentation all packaged professionally for web and TV, it’s the moment this sport has been waiting for”, said Mckenna.

There will be a lot of riders vying for these prestigious positions in the GSS Top 24 so the worlds best are guaranteed to fight hard for better seeding positions on the new tour.

This is the final Grand Slam of the year and there are a number of riders banking on a good result to make the cut. The WWT race is also open for several riders with Isabela Sousa the hot favourite whilst in the DK Dave Hubbard and Ceaser Bauer are the front runners.

The event at Confital will start with a Press conference featuring the Pro’s on Dec 2nd and then wind up with a Gala Black Tie awards banquet on Dec 8th where Amaury Laverhne will be crowned the 2010 Men’s Champion.

After this a selection of the worlds best including former world champions will be contesting the first ever IBA exhibition event at Fronton from December 10th – 21st. The 16-man / 1-day event will be web-cast live as well as broadcast to a global TV audience of millions.

Entry forms will be out in the coming days and more info will be forthcoming but riders are advised to purchase tickets now for this historic event.
