Corey McLean conquers the 2009 Australasian Rebel Sport Pro Tour

Corey McLean, of Miami Beach, Gold Coast Queensland has taken out the 2009 Australasian Rebel Sport Pro Tour, after progressing through to the semi-finals of the Rebel Sport Pro.

McLean secured the number one spot over Jake Stone (Sunshine Coast, QLD) who was knocked out in his round four heat.

Corey has been rock solid all throughout the 2009 Australasian season and has been one of the most determined tour competitors over the past five years.

"It has been a long year and I pushed myself very hard to get through all of the events," said Corey.

"I am just so stoked and I need to thank all of my family and friends that kept on telling me that I could do it".

Corey's pathway to the top this year was as follows:


Rheopaipo Pro, Duranbah QLD March 20 - 22 Placed 4th
Soldiers Beach Pro, Wyong NSW, March 26 - 26 Placed 17th
Rheopaipo Pro, 13th Beach, VIC, May 23 - 24 Placed 2nd
Soldiers Beach Pro V2, Wyong NSW, July 16 - 19 Placed 2nd
EBB Pro, South WA, September 4 - 6 Placed 1st
Knights Beach Pro, SA September 18 - 19 Placed 5th
Rebel Sport Pro, Duranbah Beach November 9 - 14 To be decided (Minimum Equal 5th place finish)

Terry McKenna, the International Bodyboarding Association Australasia General Manager, said that Corey deserved to win this year.

"Corey has been a soldier on the tour for many years now, so everyone at the IBAA is absolutely ecstatic for him", said Terry.

"Over the past few years he has really developed as a competitor and person, he was in the right frame of mind all year to win the title and now he has the result".

The 2009 Rebel Sport Pro Tour will conclude today, alongside the RAW National Titles.
