2011 Brett Young Memorial Trials: great conditions

Joe Clarke has conquered the 2011 Brett Young Memorial Trials, at Cronulla Point, and secured a place in the Shark Island Challenge. The trials were held in 4-6 feet waves and offshore winds.

Damien Martin (NSW), Nick Ormerod (QLD) and Chase O'Leary (NSW) confirmed the other three tickets to the main IBA World Tour event.

Barrels, flips and rolls were seen everywhere during the famous Brett Young Memorial Trials. Joe Clarke showed confidence and played a consistent game, wave after wave.

"I had a taste of some sick barrels this morning at Shark Island and used this as my motivation to secure my spot in the main event. I am stoked and excited to get some big barrels in this amazing event", Clarke said to Fluidzone.

The second standout of the bodyboarding contest was Damien Martin. The free surfer confirmed his local knowledge and placed second place, ahead of Nick Ormerod, a bodyboarder who has competed five times in the Shark Island Challenge.

The 2011 BodyboardBet Shark Island Challenge will from 2nd June to 25th July. The event format will see the top two riders from each heat progress to the 4 man semi-finals with the top two riders from each semi-final then progressing to a four-man final.
