Kai Lenny: riding the world's first foil bodyboard

We've seen him surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, and SUPing. But now, Kai Lenny is also giving bodyboarding a go.

The waterman from Maui became the first person ever to ride a foil bodyboard. Lenny, 24, installed a hydrofoil on a boogie board, and gave it a go in small waves.

"I recently injured my ankle super bad while windsurfing a few weeks ago and have been frothing to get back in the water. So, I put my energy into making myself a hydro foiling bodyboard, also known as the boogie foil!" explained Kai Lenny.

Apparently, it works. The foil bodyboard glides across the water and the water like a knife cutting through butter. The system is not yet perfect.

Maybe a smaller foil and small tweaks in the position of the underwater wing can improve the foil bodyboarding experience. But the seed has been planted. Will the industry explore its potential?
