Mauricio Abrunhosa has taken out the 2018 NSW HIF Bodyboard State Titles, at Surf Beach, in Kiama.

The veteran Brazilian bodyboarder claimed the Open Men's division and will represent New South Wales in the upcoming Australian Bodyboard Titles, set for Tweed Heads in August.

The event had Jones Beach, Bombo Beach and Werri Beach as backup spots, and got underway in contestable two-foot waves. A total of eight new NSW bodyboarding champions have been crowned.

Abrunhosa, who had finished runner-up last year in the Masters' division, was able to lock in a two-wave total of 14.24 points and beat his opponents.

"Finally! It's surreal, and it feels awesome. I really can't believe I am feeling the taste of winning once again," expressed Mauricio Abrunhosa.

In the always competitive drop-knee division, multiple NSW state title-holder Zachary Armytage has once again won the category with a two-wave heat total of 13.00 points.

In the women's competition, Shauna Gillet added another trophy to her museum to her collection.
