Inverted Bodyboarding Dbah Pro: perfect blue barrels | Photo: ABA Tour

Michael Novy has taken out the 2016 Inverted Bodyboarding Dbah Pro, at Duranbah Beach, in New South Wales, Australia.

The first event of the Australian Bodyboard Association (ABA) Tour had a wide variety of ocean conditions: clean and silky barrels, as well as shifty and punchy lips for air assaults.

The Aussie contest also had a Portuguese bodyboarder in action. Daniel Fonseca reached the quarterfinals and added a European flavor to the mix. Jake Stone is back after breaking his leg, and Mitch Rawlins was also happy to put a jersey on.

The Pro Men's final was an exciting battle between two heavyweights: Michael Novy and Joe Clarke. The bodyboarder from the Central Coast ended up winning his first ever ABA trophy. "Today was a good day! Fun day to be back in a contest jersey," expressed Novy.

In the Pro Junior competition, Shayden Schrader took home $500 after defeating Calen Jordan, Josh Keenan, and Lee Wilson in the decisive heat.
