Michael Ostler has been named the winner of the African edition of the Free Surf Bodyboarding (FSB) World Tour.

According to the panel of five judges and the public voting, the bodyboarder from Durban submitted the best surf clip in the birthplace of humanity. The contest window ran between August and September 2015.

Ostler, 25, delivered a one-minute video of highly technical aerial maneuvers, long and deep barrels, and drone shots at Cave Rock. Craig Hansen, Simon Heale and Warren Baynes filmed the winning footage.

"I am over the moon to say the least! Thank you all so so much for the support in winning the Free Surf Bodyboarding World Tour African Leg. I'm so, so, so blown away by it all!" expressed Michael Ostler.

"I have watched this kid grow up and become one of the great representatives for South Africa bodyboarding. A local Durban guy that knows how to throw down some huge moves with a lot of style. His riding is very fluid and has been for many years," underlined Drop-Knee pioneer Brandon Foster.

Ostler won the continental stage of the FSP World Tour with 30.15 percent of all votes. Terence Pieters secured a well-deserved runner-up position with 21.3 percent, followed by free surfer Wilder Shultz with 17.7 percent. All three riders move onto the finals. Andre Botha also gets a wildcard into the decisive stage.

The 2015 FSB World Tour will now run its final continental competition. And it's South America, "the grudge match of the Southern Hemisphere."
