The most successful bodyboarder of all time has been inducted to "The Bodyboarding Immortals."

The initiative founded by the Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) aims to honor the prolific accomplishments of the sport's greatest athletes.

Mike Stewart, 54, is the first rider to get his name in the "The Bodyboarding Immortals," the designation that will now highlight and recognize the best bodyboarders on the planet.

Born on May 17, 1963, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mike Stewart conquered nine world bodyboarding titles and is a multiple bodysurfing world champion.

He was the first bodyboarder to paddle out at Peahi/Jaws and the first prone wave rider to be awarded the "Mr. Pipeline" title.

Stewart, who unveiled Teahupoo to the world in the late 1980s, also won eight Hawaiian bodyboarding titles and has competed in all Pipe contests since 1982.

Mike Stewart helped create the four-man priority concept, a competitive system used in professional bodyboarding and surfing contests.

The Bodyboarding Immortals Hall of Fame announces its yearly inductees on November 4, the International Bodyboarding Day.
