Nicolle Calheiros wins 2012 Miss Sumol Cup

Nicolle Calheiros has conquered the Miss Sumol Cup 2012, after defeating Natasha Sagardia, Lilly Pollard and Joana Schenker, in Ilhavo, Portugal.

The Brazilian bodyboarder scored a 8-point wave, only five minutes before the end of the final, and stood in first place to claim the prestigious women's event.

In the end, Nicolle Calheiros took a total heat score of 14 points, Natasha Sagardia made 12.34 points, Lilly Pollard added 12.23, while Joana Schenker hit 11.06 points.

"I'm so happy, I can't even explain. I was the only rider representing Brazil and got the highest place, so I'm really happy. It was a hard final with three of the best bodyboarders and couldn't have gone better", says Nicolle Calheiros.

"I have had many sleepless nights, choosing between the Brazilian championship or the Miss Sumol Cup. I chose to stay and that choice was awarded with the victory. Miss Sumol Cup is an event that will never leave, as it an exclusively women competition and we must support it".

Rita Pires, the Portuguese star, only reached the semifinals, but was awarded with the "Best Wave" of the Miss Sumol Cup 2012. The "Miss Congeniality" title went to Catarina Sousa.

The 8th edition of the Miss Sumol Cup 262 waves being ridden, during two days of one-meter offshore waves, at Aveiro's Costa Nova.
