Puerto Rican bodyboarders stand out at Pipeline

The first day of the GoPro Pipe Challenge 2013 saw Rafael Rivera and Ruben Quinones dominating the heat scores. The Puerto Rican bodyboarders are fired up.

In testing 2-4 foot conditions, at the Banzai Pipeline, Rivera and Quinones placed scores of 15.01 and 13.88, respectively.

Local rider Bud Miyamoto also put on a good performance and Australia's Ewan Donnachie managed to secure a spot in Round 3.

In the Women's division, Rounds 1 and 2 featured strong performances from Maira Viana, who managed to post the highest heat score of the entire event thus far, 15.08 out of a possible 20 points.

Japanese power house Aoi Koike, along with Australia's Emma Cobb, also featured in the top 3 heat totals of the day, putting on a great display of stylish and technical riding.
