Sammy Morrentino: he now owns the US Open of Bodyboarding

History has been made in Huntington Beach. Young Hawaiian rider Sammy Morretino has conquered the DK Pro, Open Amateur and 14-18 divisions of the 2012 US Open of Bodyboarding.

Less than one month after showing off all his talent at the 2012 Science Bodyboard Hawaii Regional Tour, Morretino is living an incredible dream. Three titles and many hours of competition out in the water.

On the second day of competition under the Californian sun, Morretino claimed the highest score with a 19.33 combined points, in the Drop-Knee division.

"I finally beat David Hubbard, after three years of trying. I finally beat my idol. It was close but i did it! So stoked!", Morretino wrote on his Facebook page. Sammy had it all. He surfed a 10-point ride and was named the star of this year's US Open of Bodyboarding.

"I would like to thank all my friends in Kauai for supporting me all the time, Andrew Einck for giving me so much inspiration. my mom for bringing me into this world, my sister Alison, brother Sean, my little nephew Jayden and Noa Howatt for letting me stay with him in Cali", the young bodyboarders added.
