Jeff Wilcox Memorial: a memorable bodyboarding event

The 17th edition of the Jeff Wilcox Memorial will return to the Great Lakes, in New South Wales, between August 30th-31st, 2014.

The Jeff Wilcox Memorial 2014 is more than a bodyboarding competition. The event focus on building new and positive relationships, and sharing life experiences, in honor of a young man who passed away at the age of 14.

The 2014 edition will see riders catching waves in five categories: Junior, Open Men, Open Women, Drop Knee and Masters. And there will be a surprise in the judging tower.

Michael "Eppo" Eppelstun, former world bodyboarding champion and Jeff Wilcox Memorial competitor, will be the Head Judge of the New South Wales competition and plans to participate in a free bodyboard clinic during the event.

Let's remember who Jeff Wilcox was. He was a brilliant sportsman, full of life, and bursting with enthusiasm and energy. A very aggressive cancer defeated Jeff, but his memory has never been forgotten.

Andrew Capilli and Andrew Quirk started a Memorial event in 1990 in honour of Jeff, who looked death in the face and smiled at it.

They named it, the Jeff Wilcox Memorial. Past winners include Ash Murray, Troy De Coque, Ben Holland, Ben Player, Andrew Lester, Damien King, Levi Wagner and Mitch Rawlins to name a few.
