Morey Boogie: Mike Stewart had his signature model

Morey Boogie is more than an iconic bodyboarding brand. Morey Boogie is an institution, a 20th-century treasure. Discover the classic and vintage models that made Morey Boogie the most popular bodyboard on the planet.

The company - founded by Thomas Hugh Morey in 1973 - designed, developed, and marketed more than 45 Morey Boogie models between 1973 and 1994.

Tom Morey started manufacturing the early models in his garage, but the business rapidly expanded and became an international water sports giant.

At a certain point, the young entrepreneur from Detroit compared the relevance of the boogie board to the invention of the spoon and Gutenberg's printing press.

Morey sold the Boogie to Kransco in 1977, when he was producing and selling more than 80,000 bodyboards per year.

Morey Boogie would change hands once again in 1994 to Wham-O, the company that still markets the insignia.

With the precious and valuable help of Rob Beaton from vintagebodyboards.com, we were able to identify the boards released between the year Leonardo DiCaprio was born and the year Kurt Cobain died.
