Puerto Escondido: this wave is in danger

Puerto Escondido, one of the best surf spots in the world, is threatened by pollution and the construction of a marina.

The beaches of Puerto Escondido, in Mexico, have been attracting thousands of surf tourists for many years. The quality of the local Mexican waves are known all over the world.

There are several perfect spots for surfing and bodyboarding. Playa Zicatela is home to an IBA World Tour stop, for example.

Nevertheless, in the last years, the Main Bay at Puerto Escondido has been invaded by motor boats and government wants to build a new marina.

The new construction will destroy the local reefs and the pristine wave conditions of the small Mexican town. The Oaxaca surfing community and environmentalists are trying to alert authorities for the whole problem.

A German company specialized in designing and build wake park features announced the creation of the world's first floating outdoor surf pool.
