A new study reveals that the small island is home to 671 plastic items per square meter, the highest density ever recorded.
The Henderson Island is a desert island located in the South Pacific. It belongs to the Pitcairn Islands, a British Overseas Territory.
Despite being named a World Heritage Site by the United Nations in 1988, the 14.4 square-mile island (37.3 square kilometers) is now considered the world capital of plastic trash.

An Irish beach located near the village of Dooagh has reappeared 33 years after being washed away by a storm.
In the winter of 1984, Dooagh Beach - a 300-meter stretch of coastline located on County Mayo's Achill Island - vanished when a violent storm replaced sand with rocks.
At the time, the local economy was fully anchored on tourism, and many restaurants, shops, and hotels were forced to close their doors.

Dutch cinematographer Armand Dijcks and Australian photographer Ray Collins have teamed up to create a stunning visual artwork named "The Infinite Now."
The duo developed a series of cinemagraphs - pictures with subtle motions - inspired by waves and the ocean. The visual effect is breathtaking.
"At first I hesitated to contact Ray about the idea. Here I was, a total stranger proposing to mess around with his images. But when I finally sent him a rough example based on a low res image, he immediately loved it," explained Dijcks.
