Chad Nelsen sets Surfrider's goals for 2015

The Surfrider Foundation has set the priority campaigns for 2015.

Chad Nelsen, CEO at Surfrider, has a lot of on hands. The man behind the world's largest non-governmental surf organization has established the main goals for the year. And he needs your support.

"We currently have 96 campaigns around the country being run by our grassroots network of 85 chapters and, since 2006, we've had over 300 victories in defense of our coasts," explains Nelsen.

"If you want to support Surfrider's 2015 campaign goals to protect our ocean waves and beaches there's two things you can really do. First you can join Surfrider and become a member; second would be to get involved with our activist network wherever you live."

Surfrider Foundation's main priorities for 2015 are:

Beach Access: a) open Martin's Beach (CA); b) secure the Texas Open Beaches Act; c) secure Maine Beach (ME) Access Rights;

Clean Water: a) restore Beach Act Funding; b) clean up Cowell's Beach (CA); c) stop Rehoboth Beach (DE) Outfall Pipe;

Plastic Pollution: a) statewide (CA) bag ban referendum; b) New York City Bag Fee; c) legislation to ban micro-beads (CA, IL, NY and ME);

Coastal Preservation and Adaptation: a) Broad Beach (CA) restoration project; b) preserve Reach 8 (FL); c) Shoreline Master Plan updates (WA);

Ocean Protection: a) oppose offshore drilling legislation (Atlantic/East Coast); b) expansion of National Marine Sanctuary (CA); c) National Ocean Policy (regional ocean planning);
