Julien Kerneur is the undisputed winner of the 2017 Lord of the Wind, held in Los Barriles, Baja California, Mexico.

The French kiteboarder won four of the six event disciplines - hydrofoil, boardercross, strapless freestyle, and big air foil - and was clearly the best rider of the entire competition.

"Boom! Lord Of The Wind, one more time! I had an awesome week in Los Barriles. It was so much fun to race with my friends Nico, Joey, Mac, Haydn and all. I had an amazing strapless heat with all my tricks: 313, and kite loop full power. See you next year, Baja!" expressed Kerneur.

The Lord of the Wind is one of the most important kiteboarding events in Mexico. The competition kicked off in 2010, and profits from Lord of the Wind help fund several community projects, including getting high school students into the sport.

On the women's side, the battle for first place was incredibly tight. Although Cynthia Brown finished the competition on equal points with Rachel Callahan, she was unable to defend her 2016 Lady of the Wind title because her opponent secured more wins (three) in event disciplines.
