Sam Light has taken out the Solaire Blue Palawan Kiteboard Open 2017, at Puerto Princesa, Philippines.

The first event of the 2017 Kite Park League attracted riders from over 13 countries to tens days of windy action in Asia's first kite park located on the island of Palawan.

The conditions for the Men's final were perfect. With sunny skies, flat waters and consistent 20-knot plus of wind, nine kiteboarders took turns to hit the  Solaire kicker, the Philippines roof top, and the North Kiteboarding fun box.

Each athlete took his single best score out of three hits on each feature to the points board. In the end, Sam Light stood out with his collection of innovative and progressive signature tricks and maneuvers.

On the Women's final, Annelous Lammerts used her world tour experience to beat fellow kiteboarders, Colleen Carroll and Sensi Graves.
