A Portuguese kitesurfer rode the humongous walls of water during the infamous November 8, 2017, session at Praia do Norte in Nazaré, Portugal.

Nuno "Stru" Figueiredo, a 40-year-old kitesurfer from Porto, defied the giant waves of Nazaré, riding a four-meter kite in a crowded lineup dominated by surfboards and jet skis.

Because waves were breaking in a slightly southern direction, and the wind was blowing from the north, Nuno had to carefully analyze each wave, its potential, and the best take-off spot.

"It was pure insanity. I had the most adrenalizing session of my life. Nazaré was pumping mutant waves, and I ended the days with a session in Supertubos," explained Nuno Figueiredo.

In April 2016, Figueiredo became the first kitesurfer ever to challenge the mighty swells that traditionally hit Praia do Norte during the winter season.

Nuno "Stru" Figueiredo started surfing in 1991 and tried kiteboarding for the first time in 2001. Since then, he has already won three national titles.
