Airton Cozzolino and Jalou Langeree have been crowned 2018 GKA Kite-Surf World Tour champions.
The last event of the season got underway at Point Danger, in Torquay, Australia, with the finals being run in cross-off winds and shoulder-high waves.
Local star, Keahi de Aboitiz ended up taking a tasty home win after beating an in-form Sebastian Ribeiro in the final.
However, everyone knew who the world champion was. Flying the flags of Cape Verde and Italy, Airton Cozzolino climbed to the highest place on the podium to celebrate his third world kitesurfing title.
"It was an amazing year for me. It's an incredible feeling to have conquered a back-to-back world title after five wins in seven events. I can’t wait to return next season and hit it harder with full power once again!" expressed Cozzolino.
In the women's division, Jalou Langeree won the event and celebrated her first world title of the GKA era.
"What a great way to end this year's World Tour. Words' can't describe how happy I am. I really had an awesome time on tour, and it feels like a second family," added Langeree.
The 2019 Kite-Surf World Tour and Air Games will return in 2019 with new locations.
