2009 Kitty Hawk

The annual Kitty Hawk Kites “Kite Jam,” a kiteboarding competition, is scheduled for June 27-28, 2009, at the Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding Resort in Waves, NC.

This two day event, held each day from 10AM-5PM, features some of the best kiteboarders in the world, including team riders for Eclipse and Cabrinha.

Representatives from these two companies, as well as HQ Kites, will be on site to show off the latest kiteboarding gear and power kites. Kitty Hawk Kites will offer free power kite lessons throughout the two day event.

There are several competitions held throughout the weekend. On Saturday, join Kitty Hawk Kites and check out some of the best competitions in the Outer Banks. The “Long Jump” competition will be held at 12PM on Saturday.

The rider who goes the farthest distance without touching the water wins. Riders will participate in “Capture the Flag” at 3PM on Saturday and the “Trick Competition” will take place throughout the day. This involves riders trying to mimic specific tricks and stunts. The rider who can successfully perform the most tricks wins the title.

The Kite Jam continues on Sunday will an all day Slider Park Jam Session. Spectators are encouraged to venture onto the lawn of Kitty Hawk Kites and watch the pros master endless tricks.

Kiteboarders, both professional and recreational, are invited to participate. Registration is free. An after hours deck party is scheduled for 6PM on Saturday and is open to all riders and representatives who participate.
