Hurghada: popular kiteboarding spot in Egypt

The International Kiteboarding Association has announced the inaugural African Kite Course Racing Championships, to be held in Hurghada, Egypt.

The event will be held every year, from 2013 through 2015, in the last week of March, at the famous Hotel Magawish, in Hurghada.

The second largest city in Egypt located on the Red Sea coast is expected to be graded as a 100-point kiteboarding event in the ISAF world ranking.

Kiteboarding is the first of the 2016 Olympic events that managed to secure a continental championship in Africa for the upcoming years.

The competition will provide an opportunity for the emerging regions in Africa to take part in the Olympic Qualifying process.

The event will be hosted by Colonia Watersports and Royal Dream Tours in cooperation with the Egypt Sailing Federation.

The push through, or punch through technique allows surfers to get past a small broken wave and reach the lineup without having to duck dive or turtle roll.
