Defi Kite: the Tramontante is waiting for you

The first ever Defi Kite will take place in Gruissan, France, between September 21st-22nd, following the successful footsteps of the mother event, the Defi Wind.

The idea is simple: organize a competition for kitesurfers based on the same rules and principles which have made Defi Wind so successful in the last 13 years.

The inaugural Defi Kite 2013 aims to bring together 250 kiteboarders, both amateurs and professionals, all on the same starting line, for long distance trials of around 40 kilometers (24.8 miles).

"We should add that Defi isn't just a sporting event. It is also, and more importantly, a meeting of people who share a passion for their sport and who want to spend time together", explains Phillipe Bru, manager of the Defi Kite.

Defi Kite will take place at Gruissan, home of the Tramontane, one of the most famous winds of the world.

The Golden State boasts more than 1,000 miles of coastline, as well as some of the world's best surf breaks. And the Ventura County Coast is one of the original birthplaces of California surf culture.
