Eric Diamond: 55-mile eater

Eric Diamond has completed the 55-mile kitesurfing challenge of round the Isle of Wight, in UK. The kitesurfer entered a journey to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support.

Diamond sailed for five hours and collected £4,000 for the charity cause. "Apart from a near wipe-out near The Needles, which ended up with my kite inverted in the sky and wasted about 20 minutes, it went perfectly", said Eric.

"It was pretty rough though. One of the support crew was thrown from his RIB via the wind shield after hitting a big wave but luckily no serious bodily harm was incurred".

Eric Diamond is the second kiteboarder to kitesurf the full 55 mile circuit. His achievement was endured after the death of a friend.

He was expected to complete the challenge in six-to-ten hours, but he managed to keep up the speed and round the famous Isle of Wight in a great time.
