Jesse Richman is the Red Bull King of the Air 2013
Jesse Richman has stolen the Red Bull King of the Air 2013, held at Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa.
After an 8-year hiatus, Red Bull King of the Air has returned with a new format, new location and the mission to bring back the "wow" factor to kiteboarding. Can you imagine pulling a 25-meter air stunt?
Judges were looking at 70% height and extremity (risk, speed, angle of the kite, tricks and loops), 20% style and execution (rotations, grabs, board-off, one-footers, combinations, no dangles‐landing) and 10% variety (different tricks, both ways).
Sixteen invited kiteboarders and eight wildcards challenged themselves in a unique "flag out" competition format. It was Jesse Richman who managed to edge out Sam Light and Nick Jacobsen to emerge victorious in front of 5,000 spectators.
"I never expected this and I’m so amazingly pumped! Red Bull King of the Air has been the biggest event in the world since the very beginning. I competed in it when I was a little kid and it was the coolest thing ever", said Richman.
