Marek Bosowski wins 2018 Baltic Kite Wave Jam
Marek Bosowski has taken out the 2018 Baltic Kite Wave Jam, in Wladyslawowo, Poland.
The kitesurfing event got underway in extreme ocean and weather conditions. Thirty-two competitors challenged 40 knots of wind and four-to-five meter waves.
The one-day event will not be forgotten, as riders launched their three, four, and five-meters kites into the air and battled the wind-affected sea. It looked like Armageddon.
In fact, athletes had to resist gusts of up to 60 knots, and lighter kitesurfers had problems staying glued to their boards. In other words, it was a serious storm survival test.
But despite all the closeout waves, and choppy waters, contestants were able to adapt to the natural washing machine that had formed in front of the beach.
The finals produced tight heats, but it was Marek Bosowski who ended up claiming the event's trophy and the unofficial title of Polish wave kitesurfing champion.
The wrap-up video speaks for itself. The 2018 Baltic Kite Wave Jam was probably one of the toughest kite contest ever run in Poland.
