Defi Kite: top speed in Gruissan

Nicolas Parlier has conquered the inaugural Defi Kite 2013, held in Gruissan, France.

A total of 109 kitesurfers, both professional and amateur, including some of the best in the world, participated in the largest French gathering of competing kiters.

Marie Desandre-Navarre and Nicolas Parlier were the biggest stars of the kiteboarding marathon and dominated the three long-distance races, which totaled 80 kilometer. Wind was blowing between 20 and 25 knots, under sunny skies.

Parlier scored three sensational wins and, at just 17, the Junior French champion left his fellow opponents with no prospect of a victory.

Antoine Albeau, known for his windsurf racing skills, decided to try kiteboarding and finished in a very respectful 13th place in the overall rankings.
