Red Bull King of the Air: air kiteboarding

The Red Bull King of the Air is returning to Cape Town, South Africa, in February 2013, after a seven-year hiatus.

The challenge of the Red Bull King of the Air is simple: perform extreme big airs and tricks on the windiest day available of the first two weeks of February 2013.

Sixteen top kiteboarders will be invited by Red Bull King of the Air committee, alongside with eight wildcards will be divided through international and national kiteboarders.

Cape Town's Big Bay will a kite contest run in a single-elimination "flag-out" format. Each rider/color is related to a same colored flag. As a rider gets flagged-out, the colour flag will come down, at the beach.

Jim Gaunt, Susi Mai and Greg Thijsse will be judging the kitesurfers' tricks in the air. The Red Bull King of the Air was debuted in 1999, at Hookipa Beach, Maui. uses cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our website. Learn more on our About section.
