Richard Branson: ready to kite cross the English Channel

Richard Branson wants to break the Guinness World Record for crossing the English Channel riding a kite. After failing to get the ideal weather conditions in 2010, the Virgin magnate is ready to do it again.

Branson, a strong kiteboarding supporter, was then joined by his family and friends, but the wind and swell weren't perfect for the journey. It seems that the business mogul is not going to quit the record bid.

The British entrepreneur will try to become the oldest person to kitesurf across the English Channel with 61 or 62 years. Richard Branson celebrates his 62nd anniversary on the 18th July.

The official Guinness World Record for the English Channel cross was set on September 17th, 1999, with a 2 hours and 30 minutes mark.

Sir Richard Branson has supported and celebrated the fact that kiteboarding was chosen to debut at the 2016 Olympic Games, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
