The list of riders for the 2018 Red Bull King of the Air has been announced.

The organizers of the prestigious big air kiteboarding event have also moved the contest site from the Big Bay to Kite Beach, in Cape Town.

The decision to change the venue was based on the weather conditions. Hopefully, the new spot will improve the spectators' experience, and provided an exciting arena for the stars of the show.

The 6th edition of the King of the Air will feature 18 athletes and will run when ideal wind conditions align between 27th January and 11th February 2018.

The list of riders includes nine performers from the 2017 edition, plus seven kiteboarders from the online video competition, and two wildcards.

The contest will once again run in a compact format and defending champion Nick Jacobsen hopes to reclaim the title.

"It's like a gladiator arena when you're in the water. The beach is full of people, and the pressure is high from your sponsors and audience," notes the Danish kitesurfer.

"I'll do my very best to defend my title, but who knows - there are a lot of upcoming guys who rip. I'm just happy to take part, to be honest."

But Jacobsen will find tough opponents eager to win the event. Jesse Richman and Kevin Langeree are back after recovering from injuries and will look forward to giving everything they have in the bag.
