Ross-Dillon Player has taken out the 2019 Red Bull Megaloop, at The Spot, in Zandvoort, Netherlands.

While the rest of the Dutch preferred to stay inside, 16 competitors battled it out in the choppy chocolate waters of the Dutch coast.

The event had howling winds which eventually peaked at 50 knots during the semifinals. Nearly 10,000 spectators witnessed the biggest megaloops performed under extreme weather conditions.

Kiters were in the air for several seconds while they jumped about 15 meters high and 50 meters far.

The jury judged the athletes on the height, distance, style and performance of the megaloops, whereby that one perfect jump could be enough to make it to the next round and win the contest.

A Tight Final

The decisive heat featured two South African kiteboarders and two European riders, but the Old Continent only secured a third place.

"I can't even explain what I feel. In Round 1, I thought I was going home, but then I was able to win every single heat," said Ross-Dillon Player, as tears poured from his eyes.

Player laid down a strong early marker and held on to top spot throughout what was an extremely close finale.

"It's been insane. I had so much fun being here. It made my journey worth it. I am so happy right now. I can't believe it," said Ross-Dillon Player in tears.

The event was first held in 2013 and since then crowned four champions - Jerrie van de Kop (2013), Lasse Walker (2015), Joshua Emanuel (2017) and Ross-Dillon Player (2019).
