Members of the Winnebago Association of Kiteboarding will host the 21st annual Sturgeon Stampede Kiteboarding Classic on Feb. 13 and 14.

The event will be held on Lake Winnebago, a quarter-mile off the shore of Fisherman's Road landing (six miles north of Highway 23 off Highway 151).

This year's event will feature many of the Midwest's best kiteboarders doing their favorite tricks while competing in a variety of heats, including Speed Drags, Kitercross, Lake Crossing and Big Air.

Activities will be scheduled from noon to dark each day, wind permitting.

The power of the kite is the attraction to the sport, with jumps and tricks often exceeding 20 to 30 feet and the ability to free ride for hours at a time.

Members of WAK invite the public to watch the Sturgeon Stampede Kiteboarding Class. People are advised to dress for the occasion and cameras are encouraged. Heated shelter, music, food and refreshments will be available.
