Lighthouse to Leighton Kitesurfing Race: 19 kilometres of kite lines

The longest kitesurfing race held in Australia will take from Rottnest Island, on the 15th December, 2012.

The Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton Kitesurfing Race is designed so that spectators can witness all the action from the sand.

Riders will take off from Rottnest Island, in the afternoon, when the wind is up, and spectators are invited to Leighton Beach to watch them race into the finish line and chase the record time of 24 minutes.

Up to 100 kitesurfers are expected to challenge the 19 kilometres, across the Indian Ocean from Phillip Point to Leighton Beach, North Fremantle. The winner will take home $1500.

World ranked international kitesurfers will compete alongside local, national and international entrants. Competitors are set to arrive at the finish line at approximately 3pm, depending on weather conditions. uses cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our website.
